Wesfarmers Resources prioritises making a positive and lasting contribution to the communities in which we operate and to the nation through our economic activity.
As a large employer in Blackwater, Curragh has commenced working with the Blackwater 2022 Community Reference Group (CRG) to better understand the concerns of the local community and respond to them in a timely and practical manner.
As part of our role in the community, we want Indigenous people to feel welcome and valued as employees and members of our community, that their culture and heritage is respected and that they have the same opportunities for employment as others in the community.
We will continue to support local communities particularly in times of hardship. This support includes financial relief following natural disasters, such as an immediate $25,000 Community Grant Program for affected community organisations in Yeppoon and Rockhampton following Cyclone Marcia in 2015.
In the previous financial year through the Community Grant Program, Curragh supported 24 organisations including junior sporting teams, school P&Cs, kindergartens, youth groups and historical societies with financial support ranging from $800 to $1,600 depending on their needs and circumstances.
