Veterans’ Employment Program

Curragh is proud to be part of the Veterans’ Employment Program, and to offer an exciting start for a new and rewarding career in the mining industry.

We welcome our new recruits in February 2018. They join us for a four-year package combining training and an operational role at our Curragh Mine, in Blackwater, Queensland. It’s designed specifically to support Defence veterans make the most of their ‘what’s next?’ after service life.

As an organisation, we are committed to making the program a success, and have worked hard to get it up and running in collaboration with the Department of Defence and the Veterans’ Employment Program team. We had some high-quality applicants for our first intake, and we thank all candidates for their interest.

At Curragh, we already have many former Defence personnel on our team. We value what they bring to our business — resilience, leadership, a steady hand under pressure, outstanding problem-solving, great team skills — and are looking forward to welcoming more of those attributes into our workforce through our specially designed program.

So … what’s working at Curragh like?

Hear from Glenn Lee, former Australian Army Infantry soldier, about what working at Curragh means for him.
