Our commitment to achieving greater gender balance was recognised by the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) in 2014. Chief Operating Officer Craig McCabe was presented with the Gender Diversity Champion award in the QRC’s Resources Awards for Women. He was recognised for his leadership role in redressing the gender imbalance at Curragh by targeting women in recruitment for trade and technical roles, development and the identification of women for senior roles, flexible working arrangements and supporting ‘Women in Resources’ Queensland events.

Wesfarmers Resources offers a range of opportunities for women to connect, collaborate, learn and develop through mentoring, networking and targeted learning programs.

Our award-winning ‘Oothungs (Sisters) in Mining’ training program for Indigenous women continues to yield results, with 14 Indigenous women successfully graduating from the program over the past three years.

We promote employment opportunities for women at Wesfarmers Resources as well as the professional development of women through our Women in Resources Mentoring program, MyMentor. Each mentee is provided with real opportunities for career development, learning directly from members of our executive team and selected leaders.

Wesfarmers Resources proudly supports regular ‘Women in Resources’ gender inclusive events, to empower the community to share learnings from women working in male-dominated industries and professions.
