On 7 December 2011 Wesfarmers was named the Australian Sustainable Company of the Year at the annual Australian Sustainability Awards run by the Ethical Investor publication.

Finalists for the award included: AGL, Amcor, Fuji Xerox and National Australia Bank.

The judges found Wesfarmers to be responsive to engagement on issues of concern to the ethical investment sector. It also boasts a formal  Ethical Sourcing Code, an extensive energy efficiency drive, sustainable packaging as well as a diverse and well-integrated community partnerships programs.

This award recognises Wesfarmers commitment to sustainability over many years.
