Curragh announces new Indigenous partnership

Curragh has announced the establishment of an innovative partnership with ESS to deliver training and employment opportunities for local indigenous people in central Queensland.

Executive General Manager of Wesfarmers Curragh, Mr Rod Bridges, said that ESS manages our Rangeview and Curragh Single Person’s Quarters (SPQ) and over many years, has received numerous awards and recognition for their indigenous training and career development programs.

Now with assistance from Curragh, ESS will bring their award winning Work Readiness Training Program (offering a Certificate I in Hospitality) to Blackwater.

Up to 10 Hospitality Traineeships (paying award wages) will be offered to indigenous locals who successfully complete the two week course.

These traineeships will be offered in Blackwater and across the Bowen Basin.

This partnership follows on from the successful collaboration between Curragh and Thiess to provide 10 indigenous traineeships in the mining industry and is a further demonstration of Curragh’s commitment to Indigenous people in our local community.
