Wesfarmers wins Life Education’s Gold Harold Award
An annual celebration to honour those who have made a positive difference in Australian children’s lives
On Friday, 12 August 2011, Life Education hosted its annual Gold Harold Awards at the Hilton Sydney. The Awards acknowledge leading Australian individuals or organisations that have made a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of Australia’s children and young people.
This year, Wesfarmers was presented with the Corporate Award for its contribution across many areas of community support. Wesfarmers Resources division has been an ongoing partner with Life Education and the division’s Managing Director, Stewart Butel accepted the award on Wesfarmers behalf on the night. Some of the winners in other categories were Angry Anderson for the Entertainment Award, Max Markson for Harold’s Best Mate Award, John Brennan of 2UE for the Media Award and Jim Stynes OAM for the Sport Award.
Life Education is a leading Australian charity which provides drug and health education, which reaches more than 600,000 Australian school children every year. In its 32 years, Life Education and its iconic mascot, Healthy Harold the Giraffe, have empowered more than four million Aussie youngsters with the knowledge, skills and attitude they need to make good decisions about their health. The Gold Harold Awards are a way to recognise those that have worked tirelessly to ensure Life Education’s success and others who have devoted so much of their time and energy to the healthy development of children.
