I’ve been with the Wesfarmers Group for the past 21 years, which has provided me with a varied and rewarding career.  Starting off with Premier Coal in the early 90’s as a company accountant (and an even earlier stint with Western Collieries as an underground miner), I am currently the Senior Manager Business Services with Wesfarmers Resources.

During my career, I’ve worked predominantly in commercial and finance roles and have accountability in my present role for provision of various fit-for-purpose value-add business services including Information and Communication and Technologies. I’ve worked at both the Curragh Mine site in Blackwater, Queensland and Premier Coal in Collie, Western Australia and today I reside in the Wesfarmers Resources Brisbane office.

During my 21 years with Wesfarmers I have been given every opportunity to advance my career.  I have received great support from my immediate line managers and the senior management teams, and I have made some great friendships.  Someone once said that I was a master at re-inventing myself. That may be true but I’m not sure that there would be many companies where you have the opportunity to do that that. I can honestly say that Wesfarmers is a great place to work.

If I could offer any advice to anyone, don’t worry about moving around a bit and trying new jobs; do your best; be bold, and don’t burn your bridges. You never know when those past relationships and track records will come in handy.
